About Us
BeCause & Effect

The BeCause Foundation focuses its award-winning lens on the unique stories and creative solutions of individuals and communities faced with seemingly intractable problems. The BeCause Foundation has a proven record of forging successful partnerships with key stakeholders to promote change.

BeCause Foundation’s first film, Alone No Love, brought child advocates together from across the country to facilitate the development of a confidential child helpline/website to reach out to children being harmed, yet too afraid to disclose their abuse to the authorities. This project is currently in the development phase.

The second film, One Bridge To The Next, brought medical professionals dedicated to providing medical care to the unsheltered homeless together to form the international Street Medicine Institute. The film was a catalyst to securing $500,000 from a large pharmaceutical foundation to formalize the institute and initially expand the street medicine model to Anchorage, Alaska, Santa Barbara, California and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Our films are used extensively for educational and outreach purposes. For example, the National Children’s Alliance is distributing Alone No Love to Children’s Advocacy Centers across the country for training purposes. One Bridge To The Next was adopted by the American Medical Student Association to screen at their chapter meetings at medical schools across the country.

Our most recent film, Crossing Midnight, a film about the medical crisis in Eastern Burma, has been adopted as a key tool advocacy efforts by a number of international organizations for bringing awareness to not only the crisis abroad, but the refugee crisis in the US as well.
